Last night I was just relaxing, watching a little TV, surfing the web, and all of a sudden I got an email from the one, the only, FACEBOOK! I know, I know…I’m not the only person who’s ever gotten an email from Facebook, but this was no ordinary email. This email lead me out of the darkness into the brightness of yet another new social media tool (angelic voices sing Hallelujah). So, I check the email and it tells me I have a new message from one of my cousins who just recently joined theĀ Facebook network. It just so happens that I haven’t talked to this particular cousin of mine in quite some time, so needless to say, I get super excited and immediately check the message. Well the message is just a quick hello so I quickly reply and then go on to “stalk”, if you will, my cousin on Facebook. I look at all her pictures, see who’s writing on her wall, and see who’s wall she’s writing on, check her status updates, and look at her info. In the info section I noticeĀ a link that’s labeled “Photos of Sam” (Sidenote: Sam is her 3 year old son), so duh…I click the link, and where does it take me…FLICKR! I’ve heard about Flickr, and I’ve seen it used numerous times in class, but I’ve never actually experienced it first hand. After viewing all the pictures in the slideshow, and reading each and every comment to figure out exactly when, where, and why each picture was taken, my light bulb went off, and I thought…”How did I get here?” So I retraced my steps and realized it all started with one measly email…
If it weren’t for that measly email I would have never been checked my Facebook, and if it weren’t for Facebook, I would have never thought to go to Flickr, and if it weren’t for Flickr I would not have been able to catch up with Jenny or Sam. I guess Dr. V wasn’t kidding when she said social media is becoming more and more present in our everyday lives.

not only that, but different social media tools are becoming more and more integrated.
you can import your flickr photos and even your twitter posts & blog posts into facebook.
